How to Safely Factory Reset Your iPhone Without Losing eSIMs

Performing a factory reset on your iPhone can be a great way to troubleshoot issues or prepare your device for sale. But what about your eSIMs? Here’s how to reset your iPhone without losing them.

What Is a Factory Reset?

A factory reset restores your iPhone to its original settings, erasing all user data and applications. It's useful for troubleshooting or preparing the device for a new owner.

What Happens to eSIMs?

During a factory reset, you have two options:

  1. Keep eSIMs and erase data: Retains your eSIM profiles.
  2. Delete eSIMs and erase data: Removes eSIM profiles along with other data.

Steps to Perform a Factory Reset

  1. Backup Data:

    • Go to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.
  2. Factory Reset:

    • Open Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
    • Tap Continue.
    • Choose to keep or delete your eSIMs.

By following these steps, you can safely reset your iPhone without losing your eSIM profiles, unless you choose to delete them.
